What are kegel balls? Can I use them to strengthen my pelvic floor?

For those dealing with a weakened pelvic floor, kegel balls can be a great help for building strength and regaining control of the pelvic floor muscles.

The pelvic floor muscles or PC muscles attach to the pubic bone in the front of the body and the coccyx at the back.

This muscle acts like a hammock forming the floor of the pelvic cavity and supporting the pelvic organs including your uterus and bladder. The PC muscles extend in a figure 8 around the vaginal and anal openings.

These muscles control urine flow and bowel movements and they contract during orgasm making our orgasms stronger and longer-lasting.

A weakened pelvic floor can cause all sorts of issues including:

  • Leaking urine when coughing, sneezing, laughing or running.
  • Failure to reach the toilet in time.
  • Reduced sensation in the vagina during sexual play.
  • Tampons that dislodge or fall out.
  • Prolapse causing a sensation of heaviness in the vagina.
  • Recurrent urinary tract infections, or recurrent thrush.
  • Vulval pain, pain with sex or the inability to orgasm.

Using kegel balls helps to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and prevent these issues from occurring. But they can also assist to treat these issues if they do occur.  These are small, weighted balls that are worn vaginally for a short period of time to strengthen the muscles.

There are different styles of kegel balls, some of which are more suitable for beginners than others. Check out the range of kegel balls from Adulttoymegastore.
